Epping Lake at Wolf River Greenway

Located at the Epping Way section of the Wolf River Greenway Trail system, Epping Lake is 20 acre lake with a floating dock. For access, you must park at the trailhead and transport your kayak down to the lake.

Ghost River

The Upper Wolf River includes the hauntingly beautiful Ghost River stretch, marked by hardwood forests, bald cypress-tupelo swamps and open marshes -- habitats with unique opportunities for viewing birds and other wildlife. Its pristine wilderness offers paddlers a reprieve from city life without having to travel far.

MEEMAN-Shelby Forest STATE PARK

Poplar Tree Lake is a peaceful lake at Meeman-Shelby Forest State Park where you can explore 125 acres of flat water by kayak, canoe or SUP.

Mud Island HARBOR

Mud Island is located on the banks of the Mississippi River, the nation’s largest and most iconic river. Paddling the waters along the Arkansas-Tennessee state line offers awesome views of the Memphis cityscape, including Big River Crossing, Hernando DeSoto Bridge, the Pyramid and the downtown skyline. You can bring your own canoe or kayak down and put in at the cobblestones on the Mud Island side. Enter via Harbor Town so you can drive your boat down to the ramp, then park in the parking area provided at the top of the cobblestones. The Memphis Yacht Club also offers kayak slip rentals and storage.

Shelby Farms PARK

Shelby Farms Park, one of the nation’s largest urban parks (it’s five times the size of New York City’s Central Park) is a recreational oasis in the heart of the Memphis metro area. The park is home to more than 20 lakes and offers fun canoeing, kayaking and paddleboarding opportunities for paddlers of all skill levels.
